Nancy H. Weed was born at Weedville, Pa. in March 1823, being the daughter of Abijah B. and Charlotte Weed. She was the third of seven children. She was married at Spring Run, by Justice Starr Denison of Jay Township to Josiah W. Mead in 1851. Three children were born to the couple, Lucy V. wife of Harvey J. Lucore, Emma V. deceased, and Plympton C. who was so long ill and died in February 1892.

Nancy Mead professed conversion years ago and united with the Methodist Church on probation, never however joining in full connection. To her last hours, she had full assurance that all was well wit her soul and that she was going home to join those gone before.

Mrs. Mead's health was never firm and her last illness was caused by extreme debility from which in her advanced age she could not rally.

A wife and mother has passed away leaving behind a long life of useful effort marked by the many sorrows that fall to the lot of humanity. Her sorrowing husband and daughter remain and look forward to a reunion beyond the tomb.
